Dr. Yao Wang isprofessor at the Institute of Finance and Economics，the Director General of International Institute of Green Finance (IIGF), the Deputy Secretary General of Green Finance Committee (GFC) of China Society for Finance and Banking, as well as Expert Advisor of the Green Development Committee of the Securities Association of China. Wang Yao is the Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) and Advisor to the Sustainable Finance Programme at the University of Oxford Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment and the Consultant of the Luxembourg Green Exchange. She was also appointed the Chief Technical Advisor for BIOFIN China and previously served as the Chief Advisor of Research and Promotion on SDGs Impact Financing for UNDP China. She is also an expert of Asian Development Bank. In 2019Prof.Wang was awarded by Asiamoney China Green Finance Awards for the“Outstanding Contribution to Development of Green Finance in China”. In 2020,She received Special Award of Distinguished Expert from All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, in 2021 received "CUFE Figure of the Year" Award issued by Central University of Finance and Economics', "Responsibility Pioneer" Award issued by Southern Weekly, and "60 ESG Pioneers Award”-an annual ESG Award for most prominent experts in the field, selected by Shanghai United Media Group.
Prof. Wang worked in investment banks for 7 years, before she became a faculty at Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) in 2006. She did her post-doctorate at Bank of Beijing from 2008 to 2010. From 2010 to 2011, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Economics at Harvard University, and a visiting scholar at the Harvard Environmental Economics Program and the Harvard China Project.
